Soca dance is the heartbeat of Caribbean celebration—energetic, joyful, and deeply connected to Carnival traditions. Rooted in Trinidad and Tobago, Soca emphasizes fluid waist movements, expressive body isolations, and high-energy footwork that bring the music to life. Whether it’s wining, jumping, or the pure release of movement, Soca dance embodies freedom, community, and cultural pride.
In performance and classes, Soca dance encourages participants to let go of inhibitions and celebrate themselves through rhythm. It’s not only a form of fitness but also a way to connect to Caribbean heritage, carrying the spirit of Carnival to any stage or studio.
Class structure:
Chipography - [Across the Floor]
In Soca (and Carnival culture), “chipping” is a relaxed, rhythmic way of moving or walking to the beat of the music, often done during Carnival parades and fetes.
It’s basically a light shuffle step: keeping your feet close to the ground, rolling from heel to toe in time with the rhythm.
We mix this with choreographic movements, levels, direction changes etc. to make it more dynamic.
Fete Energy embodies the true spirit of Carnival — freedom, music, and self-expression. This is a freestyle circle where dancers come together to release pure energy, share their style, and vibe to the rhythm of Soca and Dancehall.
The circle is about celebration, not competition. Each dancer has the chance to step forward, explore their individuality, and connect with the music in their own way. Whether it’s wining, chipping, old school Dancehall steps, or your own unique moves, Fete Energy is about confidence, creativity, and community.
In this space, dancers learn to:
Freestyle with authenticity and freedom.
Build confidence by sharing movement in a supportive circle.
Channel the high-energy vibe of a real Caribbean fete.
Connect with others through rhythm and cultural expression.
Class ends with Soca Dance Choreo

Dancehall dance, born from the vibrant streets of Jamaica, is a dynamic movement style that reflects the pulse of Dancehall music and culture. Known for its sharp isolations, grounded movement, and intricate footwork, Dancehall is both a social dance form and a performance art. It celebrates individuality, confidence, and self-expression while honoring its roots in the Jamaican community.
With its powerful catalog of iconic moves—each tied to music, moments, or artists—Dancehall continues to evolve while staying grounded in its cultural foundation. It inspires dancers to bring attitude, creativity, and authenticity to the floor, making it one of the most influential urban dance forms worldwide.
Dancehall Choreography
My Dancehall classes focus on choreography that blends the roots of Dancehall with modern influences, offering a dynamic and performance-ready experience. Students learn a mix of old school, middle school, and new school Dancehall movements, strung together into routines that showcase both foundation and creativity.
While Dancehall is traditionally freestyle and social, this class channels the energy into structured choreography that trains musicality, precision, and stage presence. As a Trinidadian, MarZ brings a unique perspective by incorporating Trinibad Dancehall music—an emerging sound from Trinidad and Tobago—alongside Jamaican Dancehall tracks and wider Caribbean influences.
The choreography also fuses Hip Hop dynamics—grooves, isolations, and power—allowing dancers to explore versatility and expand their range. By experimenting with both Dancehall and Hip Hop music, students gain exposure to different rhythms, tempos, and textures, pushing movement exploration and adaptability.
This class is perfect for dancers who want to:
Build a strong Dancehall vocabulary across eras.
Experience Caribbean cultural influences firsthand.
Train performance-ready choreography with musical variety.
Expand freestyle and choreography skills by fusing Dancehall with Hip Hop.
